Use cuts, slides and motion transitions

Choose transitions that support the scene and keep the movement clear.

Start with a clean cut

A direct cut is often the strongest choice for dialogue and continuous action. Use a transition to signal a shift in time, place or energy. Applying a visible effect at every boundary can distract from the performances and make the film feel less deliberate.

Choose a direction and a duration

Select the transition at the clip boundary and use the available effect and timing controls. A slide gives a directional handover; a zoom or pan-style motion effect creates a more energetic change where offered. Keep direction consistent with the movement already in the footage. Use a short duration for a quick shift and more time only when the scene needs it.

Check both playback and export

Play from before the boundary until after it. Look for repeated movement, a sudden pause, exposed edges or an abrupt change of scale. Review the exported file as well. If an effect still looks wrong, note the two clip names, direction and transition duration when contacting support.
