Control locations, wardrobe and props

Build a recognisable world and carry the right details into each scene.

Establish a location clearly

Use Location to provide or develop the space. Describe entrances, windows, important furniture and the time of day. Multiple views of the same place should agree on layout. Review the reference before shooting a scene that depends on a specific doorway, staircase or object.

Assign wardrobe and props

Use wardrobe references for the correct character and scene. Describe the garment, colour and details that matter to continuity. For props, specify size, appearance, who holds the object and how it is used. Name each object consistently so a cup does not become a different item halfway through the scene.

Handle changes intentionally

A new costume, a damaged object or a moved chair can be a story event. State when the change happens and keep it consistent in following shots. If references are still preparing, dependent shots may wait. Review the named reference rather than generating unrelated replacements for every waiting shot.
